This month LVMH hosted a week long discussion panel on fashion’s future in combatting climate change. speaking with designers including Stella McCartney, Jonathan Anderson, Kim Jones and Felipe Oliveira Baptista about sustainability and design allowed indiviudals to gain insight into the amount of waste fashion can generate and how many designers are now finding creative ways to avoid it.

LVHM also used their climate week panel to introduce a new program, Life 360.” Life 360 is a set of environmental initiatives that will role out over the next 3, 6, and 10 years. Building on the company’s LIFE 2020 initiative, which was unveiled in 2012, this new chapter will focus on four main objectives: improving the environmental performance of all products, applying the highest standards across procurement chains, improving the environmental performance indicators of all sites, and reducing CO2 emissions.

“We wanted to send an extremely powerful symbol to embark on a new path forward, which is imperative given the urgency of the situation,” said Antoine Arnault, LVMH image and communications director. It is clear the protection of the environment will be fashion’s focus for the years to come, and it must be ours too.

the best way to do your part is to research how the products you are eyeing are made, what materials they use, and be prepared to shop sustainable alternatives or vintage options. the future of fashion is sustainable.
