THE AVERAGE PERSON MAKES UP TO 35,000 DECISIONS A DAY. NOW IMAGINE LEADING THE LIFE OF ONE OF TODAY’S TOP DESIGNERS, INVENTORS, OR DEVELOPERS; IT IS MOST LIKELY THESE CREATIVES ARE MAKING MANY MORE DECISIONS ABOVE AVERAGE. DECISION FATIGUE SETS IN AND THE LAST THING THEY WANT TO THINK ABOUT IS WHAT TO WEAR. THUS, A LOT OF THEM STICK TO REPEATING TRIED AND TRUE OUTFITS DAY IN AND DAY OUT. IF IT AIN’T BROKE…

STEVE JOBS

The Apple genius was creative and inventive beyond measure. Yet, he stuck to an outfit that was simple and easy. Blue Levi’s denim, grey New Balance sneakers, and black turtlenecks by Japanese designer Issey Miyake. Jobs once revealed he had over 100 of the same black turtlenecks.

FRAN LEBOWITZ

“I hate to go shopping, I can't stand it," Fran Lebowitz told The New York Times in 1984.

The author and public speaker rarely strays from her go-to uniform. Tortoise shell glasses, a men’s button down shirt from Hilditch & Key, men's suit jackets from Anderson & Sheppard, cowboy boots, and Levi’s 501 denim comprise the Lebowitz look.

KARL LAGERFELD

Karl Lagerfeld was rarely seen in anything but a black blazer, black skinny pants, a black tie, a crisp white shirt, and his signature black frames. He supposedly owned one-thousand white shirts of similar design.

COCO CHANEL

Coco Chanel loved fashion and design. And while she mixed up her skirt suits with dresses, she was most often found adorned with white pearls and a hat to top it all off.

AZZEDINE ALAIA

AZZEDINE ALAIA IS KNOWN FOR CREATING BEAUTIFUL AND STRUCTURED PIECES FIT PERFECTLY TO A WOMEN’S BODY. IT IS NO WONDER, THEN, THAT HE CHOSE TRIED AND TRUE PIECES FOR HIS OWN WARDROBE; HE WAS ABLE TO PUT ALL OF HIS CREATIVITY INTO HIS DESIGNS. SIMILAR TO LAGERFELD, ALAIA WORE BLACK PANTS AND A BLACK JAPANESE INSPIRED KIMONO JACKET.

PABLO PICASSO

PICASSO’S ART WAS ECCENTRIC AND ABSTRACT. AND WHILE THE ARTIST HIMSELF NO DOUBT HAD A FINE TUNED SENSE OF PERSONAL STYLE, HE TENDED TO STICK TO A CLASSIC NAVY STRIPED SHIRT (SHORT OR LONG-SLEEVED), A BLACK STRAPPED WATCH, AND IN THE COOLER MONTHS, SOMETIMES ACCESSORIZED WITH A NEWSBOY HAT.

CAROLINA HERRERA

HERRERA HAS RARELY BEEN SEEN TAKING HER RUNWAY BOW IN ANYTHING BUT POINTED TOE HEELS, A CRISP WHITE BUTTON DOWN, AND SHARP DARK TONED A-LINE SKIRT. AND IT CLEARLY WORKS FOR HER AS SHE EMBODIES SOPHISTICATED ELEGANCE.

jean paul gautier

SIMILAR TO PICASSO, THE AVANT GARDE FRENCH DESIGNER, JPG, NEVER STRAYED TOO FAR FROM A BRETON STRIPED SHIRT. PAIRED WITH BLACK PANTS AND BLACK SHOES, GAUTIER’S CLASSIC FRENCH LOOK WAS THE DESIGNER’S TRUSTY LOOK DU JOUR.

NORMA KAMALI

NORMA KAMALI’S BLUNT BANGS AND RAVEN BLACK HAIR WILL IDENTIFY THE INNOVATIVE DESIGNER ANYWHERE. PAIRED WITH A BLACK ENSEMBLE (which she experiments with, but never strays too far), KAMALI CAN FOCUS ON CONTINUING TO SERVE UP GLAMOUR TO WOMEN ALL AROUND THE WORLD.

the ramones

CLASSIC ROCK AND ROLL STYLE. VINTAGE DENIM, A BAND TEE AND A LEATHER JACKET WAS THE DAY IN AND DAY OUT LOOK FOR THE RAMONES. AND BOY DID THEY LOOK COOL.
